Modern logistics processes in a wide range of industries such as food, beverages, chemicals, automotive, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics require sustainable and resource-conserving processes as well as closed-loop systems and innovative products that can be used for this purpose. However, it is not only products and processes that play a decisive role, but also the ecological and social responsibility of the corporate culture.
WERIT currently employs more than 600 people at six production sites and five sales locations across Europe. The company is looking back on 75 years of success this year.
Reused IBCs conserve resources
In the responsible use of raw materials and resources, WERIT is constantly working on new, innovative and intelligent solutions for containers and packaging systems as well as their collection and environmentally friendly recycling.
This is where the WERIT IBC modular system shows its full strengths: it enables easy cleaning and economical reconditioning by replacing individual components. For used IBCs, regardless of manufacturer and design, WERIT offers free take-back via the PACKONE© ticket. In this way, WERIT guarantees resource-saving and economical reuse. The function and usability of the reconditioned IBCs are equivalent to new products. With the different circulation systems from WERIT, the Closed or Open Loop, customer-specific requirements can be optimally addressed in order to achieve the best possible economic and ecological efficiency.
Not only the standard sizes of 600, 800 and 1000 litres, but also the 300 litre COMPACTline or the NUTRiIline aseptic, an absolutely special container, are designed so that they can be easily rotated and reconditioned in these circulation systems.

Retail requires solutions for pooling and logistics
Sustainability from an economic and ecological perspective is also a top priority in retail and in the area of pool and logistics services. Reusable transport packaging from WERIT is durable and amortises over its entire life cycle. When it comes to containers, WERIT stackable containers are the first choice for sustainable logistics solutions. Swivel stack containers can be stacked when full and are very stable thanks to their robust construction. When empty, they can be easily nested inside each other and achieve a volume reduction of 65%.
The volume-reducible plastic containers from WERIT are used in both internal and external logistics, as they are impact-resistant, break-proof and dimensionally stable and are therefore suitable for automatic conveyor technology in addition to manual handling. Particularly in times of increasing numbers of online deliveries, they have proven to be the better solution to the cardboard boxes previously used.
The EURO H1 hygiene pallet is the well-known pooling pallet and there are only a handful of manufacturers apart from WERIT who produce these with the required GS1 certification. The pallet impresses with its first-class hygiene standards, high dimensional stability, universal usability and ultimately its cost-effectiveness. The EURO H1 hygiene pallet is a recognised load carrier in the meat industry. It is labelled as a pooling pallet with the GS1 seal and can be exchanged throughout Europe.
In addition to the hygiene pallets, WERIT also offers IKP pallets in Euro and industrial sizes. This series is also characterised by maximum economy, efficiency and sustainability. IKP plastic pallets have a low tare weight and offer the option of additional equipment modules. They are versatile, highly resilient and durable.
Sustainable thinking as part of the corporate strategy
Increasing resource efficiency is an important factor for manufacturing companies. People, machines and processes must work together here. This holistic approach can save resources, reduce costs and ultimately increase productivity. The efficient use of resources is essential for the future competitiveness of the company. For example, annual savings in primary materials (e.g. fossil fuels and metals) energy and greenhouse gases, the so-called CO2 footprint, are generated.
In addition to many sustainable activities, WERIT is also a member of the UN Global Compact, the world's largest and most important initiative for responsible corporate governance. Not only the environmental concept, but also a code of conduct that is a matter of course for us and continuously practised occupational safety are sustainable and central topics. Annual participation in the internationally recognised EcoVadis rating is also an important topic at WERIT, as it allows companies to express how they deal with economic, social and environmental impacts.
