FAQ

Heating oil tanks from WERIT

Yes, our double-walled heating oil tanks promise a very high standard of quality and a long service life. In terms of CO2 emissions, oil condensing boilers consume up to 30% less energy. With the help of climate-neutral additions (solar thermal energy or photovoltaics), the climate targets of tomorrow are already being met today.

Read more about oil hybrid heating systems and why they continue to make sense in"raffiniert - IWO-Fachmagazin für den Wärmemarkt", published by the Institut für Wärme und Oeltechnik e. V. (Institute for Heat and Oil Technology).

We are convinced of the quality and safety of our tanks. That is why we not only comply with the statutory warranty obligations, but also offer our specialised wholesale customers and selected tank protection companies a 15-year warranty on all double-walled Techno tanks. We grant a two-year guarantee on technical accessories.

WERIT is a pioneer in the manufacture and development of plastic tanks with over 60 years of expertise in plastics processing. Qualified employees, state-of-the-art technologies and constant quality controls are today the guarantee of our market-driven, high-quality products.

We sell exclusively to plumbing and heating wholesalers as well as selected tank protection companies and plant engineers. We will be happy to name competent partners in your area if you need an oil tank for your oil heating system. They can provide you with information on storage, installation, cleaning, refurbishment and maintenance of the tank and heating system.

Techno E and Techno K are our two double-walled tank systems. They differ only in their shape and dimensions. The manufacturing quality is identical.
You can find more information on our current flyer.

FAQ

Installing and connecting heating oil tanks

The Ordinance on Installations for Handling Substances Hazardous to Water (AwSV) stipulates that certain activities on heating oil tanks, including all pipework and safety equipment, may only be carried out by companies that can provide proof of special qualifications. They are called "specialised companies according to water law" or "specialised companies according to AwSV".

Since the AwSV came into force on 1 August 2017, this specialist company obligation has applied nationwide for work, for example installation, internal cleaning, repair or decommissioning, on a heating oil tank with a volume of more than 1,000 litres.

You will find all detailed information about our heating oil tanks in our product catalogue.

The following applies when determining the required accessories:
You need a basic kit to install the 1st tank. If you want to install another tank next to it, you will need an extension kit. Installation one behind the other requires a connection kit and an angle kit is required for an L-shaped installation.

The nominal volume indicates the maximum filling volume to be achieved, excluding safety criteria. The usable volume, on the other hand, is the actual filling volume of a heating oil tank system.

The useful volume is calculated on the basis of the nominal volume, taking into account the limit value sensor switch-off time, a maximum line length of 20 metres and a return reserve of at least 100 litres. Depending on the tank variant, this so-called differential amount can exceed the usual 95%.

There are a few things to bear in mind when installing tank batteries. This includes a regulation that explicitly governs wall clearances:

  • Single-row batteries with one tank side must be at least 40 centimetres apart, all other tank sides must be at least five centimetres apart. There is currently no regulation(s) for the distance from the ceiling.
  • For double-row batteries (multi-block system), a distance of at least 40 centimetres must be maintained on one front side and two long sides, and a distance of 5 cm on the remaining side. The ceiling clearance is 20 cm above the heating oil tanks.
  • The distance can be reduced to the safety requirements of a single-row system using a ceiling clearance of 50 cm and a corresponding leak detector.

Yes! In our product brochure on page 8 you will find a visualised representation of the wall distances.

Yes, because our new WERIT safety tanks can be combined to save space. Different blocks and angled installations are no problem.
Modern oil condensing boilers reduce consumption and the volume of the tank system can be reduced.

FAQ

Old heating oil tanks

Even a very good heating oil tank needs spare parts after a few years. For this purpose, WERIT offers various filling, withdrawal and venting lines for all tanks produced since 1970. We recommend that you complete our dimension sheet for single-row or multi-block tank systems to determine the exact items required.

Dimension sheet - single-row installation

Dimension sheet - multi-block system

99% of leaks in the pipe system are not caused by the sealing element used. Plastic tanks have a settling behaviour whereby pipes are widened if they are installed too rigidly on site. As a result, the seal appears too small and can no longer seal completely.

In addition, you as the customer can be sure that a new pipe will work immediately, minimising the time you need to invest.

You can carry out a self-check with the help of our information sheet "Technical reasons for the removal of heating oil tanks" with the reasons contained therein.

As the manufacturer, we recommend an expert inspection in accordance with AwSV (Ordinance on Installations for Handling Substances Hazardous to Water).

You can find more information and experts in your area at www.sicherer-öltank.de

Technical progress has not stopped at heating oil tanks either. The plastic tanks from WERIT are double-walled and therefore have an integrated drip tray. This saves you having to wall off your tank room and apply a protective coating. In addition, the Techno safety tanks are equipped with the Q3 seal.

This has several advantages for you as a customer:

  • Odour barrier
  • Dimensional stability
  • UV stabilisation

FAQ

Residential areas

The requirements in water protection areas vary greatly depending on the authority. We recommend that you clarify this in advance with the lower water authority. In principle, the double-walled safety tanks from WERIT can also be installed in water protection areas.

Yes, that's no problem at all. Our double-walled safety tanks in the flood version are approved up to a flood height of 3.5 metres. This is the maximum possible height that can be achieved with a plastic heating oil tank.

Further information can be found in our Techno HW flyer.

Yes, our double-walled safety tanks can be installed in earthquake zones 1-3. Depending on the earthquake zone, there is a suitable tank from WERIT. An appropriate anti-slip mat is also required for under the safety tank.

Further information can be found in our installation instructions for anti-slip mats.
